Introduction

In 1995 at BBC Television Centre and Elstree Studios I did a 2 year Assistant Producer course during which I wrote and directed packages for programmes such as Blue Peter, Watchdog, Animal Hospital and All Rise For Julian Clary. At the end of my course I produced and directed a LIVE show for peak time Saturday morning on BBC 1 called The Lord Mayors Show. A few years on and I have been biding my time in broadcast work by making business communication videos “at broadcast quality” for major high street banks, BP and some car companies.

However, to utilise the skills I have as a multi-camera director I also every summer (and for the last 6 years) have produced and directed the Royal Opera House’s BP Summer Big Screens events in which we broadcast from live inside the Opera House in Covent garden to the BBC (and self erected) screens in city centres all around the country. This year marks the first year in which we will also be broadcasting to cinema screens in all of Europe and the USA.

I am a friendly, informed and extremely experienced with an acute understanding of the entire television production process. I like my work to be crafted, considered, perfect and fun. Even the simplest package brief will, after discussion, be given a non-distracting grace and flare in keeping with the programmes output.

I am available to make VT inserts, direct and write for presenters, direct either PSC or multi-camera live or recorded studio. I can edit to a slightly above average standard on Final Cut and have a full operational understanding of all DV camera and the HD XDCam range.

Considering all of the above, you might also be surprised to learn I’m not, contrary to what is presented here, a smart Alec.
